Behind the Scenes: Lee’s Technical Visit to La Paloma

Lee McFarland headed to Barcelona with a tape measure to make sure everything planned for Midnight Mayhem fits inside La Paloma, and met the woman who has owned it since 1976.

On 22 September Lee was on an early flight to Barcelona for a “technical visit” at La Paloma, the home of Midnight Mayhem on 19 January 2027. Sapar Karyagdyyev asked what that actually means. Lee explained:

“Basically the technical visit is me turning up at La Paloma with a tape measure and asking lots of annoying questions. Ring dimensions and positioning, lighting and rigging, cameras and video feeds, sound, power, livestream, screens, fighter walkouts, VIP sightlines. Basically making sure all the cool stuff we’ve promised can actually fit in the building and work on the night.”

The verdict? “So went all the way to Barcelona and they agreed with me,” Lee reported, with a video from inside the venue. The fighters’ reaction said it all. Becky Johnson-Kent: “Obviously it’s Eye of the Tiger!” Richard Symonds: “Looks phenomenal. Gassing in adrenaline already!”

In our corner

Back home, Lee introduced the fighters to someone special: the owner of La Paloma, who has run the historic Barcelona dance hall since 1976.

“She is very much in our corner for the night. The venue is amazing and I cannot describe how it feels when the music is pumping. It’s going to be one hell of a night for those that attend.”

Roger Redfearn-Tyrzyk’s response: “LFG!!!!” We couldn’t have put it better. See the event details and enquire about tickets and VVIP areas.
